Kat Lee-Ryan  has had a long and varied career in music. She has just released her 12th album, The Queensbury House Sessions'' on her own label, Priestess Records, with her band The Fabulous Red Diesel. She sells music globally, and locally, and has made her name as a singer songwriter to be reckoned with.

As a young soloist in London, Kat supported Jeff Buckley, worked with Andy Coughlan (  www.cerddcymru.co.uk/land-of-song/andrew-coughlan , Tony Kylie from the Blow Monkeys, and a couple of gigs with Stanley Addler www.stanleyadlermusic.com/biography.html  Stanley even gave Kat a couple of cello lessons , unforgettable !!!

She was an active member of the London acoustic scene too in the early 90's, playing at The Mean Fiddler ,The Weavers,The Garage,Bunjies ,alongside Pat Orchard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SavgsHCwQL4  The Troubadour, The Kashmir Klub,(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kashmir_Klub ) (run by Tony Moore) The Easycome Club  (run by The Hankdogs)and Club Candid  , plus running her own tiny acoustic night on Charing Cross Road ( in Sidolis) where she booked acts such as Praying for the Rain www.twinarrowsmusic.com ,and Joe Quillin https://joequillin.bandcamp.com/ .

During this time, Kat teamed up with a fine singer/songwriter called Paul Hoad, and they formed a duo called Sister Wicca, who released one album, and appeared on the Lucy Longhurst show on GLR !

Kat's love of acoustic clubs and new music led to the  creation of Chill on The Hill, a monthly Music Club at Crouch Hill Community Centre. By then She was fronting Naked Angel https://store.cdbaby.com/Artist/NakedAngel and Wil, Jim Dawson , Brian Jenking  ,the other 3 members, plus Elaine Jenking and  Angie Dawson, were the team who put up and took down the hugely popular event.

Jeremy Corbyn was a regular visitor to both the Crouch Hill Community Centre and Chill on The Hill, and a great supporter of both entities, as was Andy Serkis www.imdb.com/name/nm0785227 and Arabella Weir .There were 3 live bands per month,and we were graced with such names as Pete Brown,https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Brown and Noel McCalla https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noel_McCalla, Jon Morrison did our sound https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Morrison and the  artists included The Blue Wah Wah, Eddie Fink, Lizzie Segal, 3d Echo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFiZwFuB1cE and many many more .

 

As frontwoman of ‘Naked Angel’ she and her drummer/husband Wil played at Wembley Conference Centre, The Jazz Café in Camden and Berlin, and The Mean Fiddler, as well as performing alongside artists like Anastasia, Angie Brown and Howard Jones at the Orange in Kensington. They played at the Oval Comedy club , hosted by Brian Damage, and were Mackenzie Crook's  house band for the night ,while he was doing his stand up character -Charlie Cheese https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mackenzie_Crook

Alot of Kat's performances were at festivals , including Oerol ,Glastonbury, The Big Green Gathering, One World, Earth Spirit, Small World, Gaunts House Summer Gathering and Solarafayre .

On moving to Hastings in 2004, The Fabulous Red Diesel  was born.They soon slotted neatly into Hastings hectic and eclectic music scene, and have played at Fat Tuesday, Jack in The Green ,The Hastings Green Fayre, The Hastings beach Festival, as well as the many venue/pubs in the town. They have released 4 albums, the second produced by the legendary  Phil Brown, www.phillbrown.net who recorded the likes of Bob Marley, Led Zepellin, Tears for Fears and David Grey. Kat also writes and performs in Katdog (afro celtic),  (original jazz), and as a soloist, accompanying her voice on piano, her first instrument, studied at the City of Leeds College of Music. 

Currently she is working on the launch of a new musical/dance piece called Sparkly Bird. it is a true story , told in 12 songs ,played by the fabulous Red Diesel, with a narrator and 2 dancers. The subject matter is mental health and suicide, and is currently touring theatres in the South East .The Sparkly Bird album is  due for release in March 2018.
